I recently started writing book reviews and I wish to add to the blog my first English review about a book I also read in English, from John Boyne, an Irish novelist.
I do not remember how I came across this title and when I bought it as a kindle version, but this year, I started reading it at some point. Once I got through the first two pages, I became dependent on reading each exciting chapter in order to get to the end of it, or at least to an emotional encounter. At least I thought it would become an important moment between a mother and her son.
I do not wish to spell many beans on the content of the book, but I wish to emphasize that I enjoyed John Boyne’s writing very much. The novel colorfully describes places and mentalities of Irish people and institutions that leave a mark on how parents educate their children, the values that are transferred from one generation to another and other social affairs.
The novel’s events happen in Ireland, starting from a small town/village and moving to Dublin, the capital city, where the importance of society and what people see, say and think about you take any life experiences, especially if you are different than the majority, to another level.
Enjoy having a look at this book, during the winter holidays. You might get to see the society we live in with a different perspective in 2020. Happy Holidays and all the best in 2020!
